Rachel, I'm a terrible person. I'v been meaning to send your SD cards back since first getting them, but due to being terrible, I have only just confirmed that I did indeed transfer all of your pictures to my external hard drive for safe keeping, even though I actually did the transfer two Sundays ago. At any rate I'm sending them back tomorrow. A couple of thoughts: are you printing your pictures so that you have them with you while you're in the field? Your comps will want to see them and it will be good to look at them from time to time to reminisce about the good old days. Also, investigators might want one or two of the ones that you take with them, especially if you take them of their baptism. On the other hand, this is the States, so people probably have their own cameras and won't be looking for you to be their wedding photographer. Can you image the pressure they put on my little Canon point and shoot? Unreal!! At any rate, I'm sure you've got it all figured out as usual, so I'll be sending them back empty, but if you need the files, just let me know. Also, I couldn't really tell from your letter, but I take it you don't need the two SD cards I sent for your b-day, but if you change your mind, please let me know. Also, are you sure you don't need them when I've had two of the ones you sent for weeks? will you need some to cover the times when I'm behaving so terribly? Just let me know. Otherwise, I'll probably just keep them and the money I should send you as a replacement gift because, after all, I am really a terrible person. In summary, you shouldn't expect a lot from me, otherwise you're sure to have your hopes dashed into tiny little fragments where super glue will be of no use to you. I don't know if you'll be checking these comments, but perhaps you will. If not, I'll also send you some snail mail along with the much belated SD cards. I hope the Spanish is increasingly easy and that you're able to find people to speak Spanish to. I've heard some state-side spanish speaking missionaries tell stories of spending alot of time looking for the latinos rather than looking for latinos that are interested in the Message. Or, as we used to say, the latins. Is it total immersion in a spanish culture and if not, what percentage would you assign to it. In other words, if all your time listening and speaking to people were 100%, what percentage of your time are you listening and speaking to people in spanish? Have you started dreaming in spanish? thinking in spanish? It will mess you up for a long time when you try to return to the english speaking part of your life. I still have not fully recovered and I think I seriously lost some of my previous abilities (math) due to needing to make room for the spanish I once knew. Now I know neither spanish nor math, so I'm a really dumb guy. All I can do is barely speak english when I try and focus really hard.
You will be an excellent hispanohablante before too long, just keep at it. My issue was never speaking just understanding. I must have the slowest ears ever.

Love your guts,

Shane
